The Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Edinburgh have developed a remarkably close relationship, displaying what has been described as a "highly unique sisterhood act" during recent royal engagements.
Both women share the unique experience of marrying into the Royal Family, with Sophie marrying Prince Edward in 1999 and Kate joining the firm through her 2011 marriage to Prince William.
Their warm connection was particularly evident during Garter Day, where the two royal women were photographed sharing laughter and conversation whilst observing the procession from the Galilee Porch at St George's Chapel in Windsor.
"Princess Kate has, together with Duchess Sophie, crafted a highly unique sisterhood act. This really works," royal commentator Dr Arthur Cassidy observed.

"This dynamic royal sisterhood act will gather much more momentum in the next few years as both have charismatic yet graceful charm in their personalities with adaptability and social conformity to royal protocol," he explained.
He emphasised that Sophie has become Kate's "pillar of strength" and mentor, helping guide her through public expectations and royal demands.
The royal's public display of camaraderie comes as the Princess continues her recovery from cancer, with the Duchess providing crucial support during this challenging period.
"As Princess Kate continues to navigate her cancer recovery, it's vital she keeps her family life and lifestyle in complete balance, avoiding stress of any kind. The reason is that the recovery process is twofold - the biological and psychological," he told HELLO! Magazine.

Dr Cassidy, a chartered member of the British Psychological Society, observed that Sophie's role extends to practical guidance, helping Kate determine which engagements to accept or decline based on potential stressors.
"Psychologically, everyone needs a significant other at all times, one to whom they can confide beyond their own spouses," he explained.
The mutual understanding between the two women appears deeply rooted.
"Kate, being not only highly intelligent but also deeply empathetic and insightful, understands Sophie's mindset, and this is reciprocal in their emotional bonding.
A royal expert and psychologist believed Sophie's support will be invaluable to Kate.

"It has durability in its essence and its now ingrained into each other's personality," the royal expert observed.
The apparent glowing closeness between Kate and Sophie comes as the Duchess of Edinburgh has expressed enthusiasm about taking a more prominent role in the Royal Family.
She is said to be "keen" to help fill gaps left by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's exit in 2020 and Prince Andrew's retreat from public duties.
"Sophie is very keen to take on more work for the Royal Family," a source told The Sun.

Up until this point, the Duchess has performed her duties in the mould of Princess Anne.
The source observed that both Sophie and the Princess Royal travel to engagements "all over the world without any real fanfare".
However, the insider believed that may soon change.
"I suspect that as she takes on more work for the family, Sophie will have to have more staff," they said.
