James Middleton revealed his son's surprising hair colour in a rare update.

Princess Kate's brother posted footage on Instagram, showing his young son, Inigo, splashing happily in a small metal bathtub whilst bathing in the sunshine.

The footage captured Inigo gleefully sitting in the metal tub, dabbing his blonde hair with cool water and wriggling his tiny toes.

The blonde hair may come as a surprise to royal fans, as James and his two sisters, Kate and Pippa, are all brunettes. However, Inigo's mother, Alizée Thevenet, is a natural blonde.

Towards the end of the video, James could be seen gently washing his son's notably blonde locks.

The 38-year-old entrepreneur carefully protected his son's privacy by keeping Inigo's face hidden from view throughout the video.

In his Instagram caption, James wrote: "Bath time in a bucket, does it get any better than that... I just wish I could fit!"

The heartwarming post quickly attracted attention from fans and friends who praised the adorable scene.

The intimate family moment resonated with viewers, with one commenting: "Adorable. Life should be that happy and simple for all of us." Another fan wrote: "Oh my gosh! This was so adorable," whilst a third added: "What a cutie, it's always the simple things that you cherish."

The outdoor bath time video showcased a simple yet joyful moment between father and son.

James shares Inigo with his wife Alizée, whom he married in 2021. The couple welcomed their son on September 21, 2023.

The child's full name, Inigo Gabriel Middleton, holds special significance for the family. In his memoir, Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life, James revealed the meaning behind the name.

"Gabriel is in memory of his grandfather, Alizée's papa. It is a small tribute and we look forward to sharing lots of stories about his French grandad too," he explained.

The James & Ella entrepreneur recently spoke to Hello! about the challenges and rewards of balancing his business ventures with fatherhood.

"Yes, getting up in the morning, trying to feed six dogs and get Inigo fed and off to nursery is a challenge," James told the outlet. He added: "I'm less bothered about changing nappies as I've cleared up enough poo over the years!"

The entrepreneur reflected on how parenthood has transformed his perspective on time: "I often look at Alizee and say, 'What did we do before we had Inigo? What did we do with all that time?'"

James acknowledged the need for patience in parenting, noting: "You can't rush anything." He concluded philosophically: "But it's like anything in life - you evolve and change. You can look back at the past and enjoy the memories, but not chase them today, as it's a waste of energy."
