King Charles's Coronation has been hit by a sudden death that risks last minute changes needing to be made to the historic ceremony.
The wife of the Duke tasked with carrying the Sceptre with Cross into Westminster Abbey during the King's Coronation has died.
The Duchess of Buccleuch and Queensberry died after a short illness following an operation.
It is unknown if the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry will still take part in the Coronation ceremony this Saturday or whether new arrangements may need to be made.

He was one of just four non-royal dukes to have been invited to the historic occasion at Westminster Abbey.
The King has expressed his condolences privately to the Duchess's husband.
It is thought the Duke remains eager to participate in the Coronation if possible.
However, Buckingham Palace is said to be understanding of the situation and are thought to be ready to make changes to Saturday should they be required.
Benny Higgins, the executive chairman of Buccleuch – which manages the business interests of the family, said: “The Duke of Buccleuch and his family have announced that, very sadly, on Sunday morning the duchess died after a short illness following an operation.
“The Duchess was the most wonderful, life-enhancing spirit and our hearts go out to the family as they come to terms with their loss.”
Born in 1954, Lady Elizabeth Kerr married the current Duke of Buccleuch, Richard Scott, in 1981.
She is survived by her husband, four children and 11 grandchildren.

There will be a private family service in the Scottish Borders, with a service to celebrate her life to be announced at a later date.
As well as potential changes to the ceremony should the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry be unable to attend, palace staff are also said to be bracing for Prince Harry to drop out at the last minute.
Yesterday, a source told the Mail on Sunday: "While the Royals are confident that he will show up, others involved are not quite so convinced."
They added: "He has not been responding other than in a ‘We acknowledge your email’ holding manner."
