The Duke of Sussex and the Prince of Wales are not on speaking terms

Prince William has ended any possibility of meeting with Prince Harry this week as the Prince of Wales has committed to a full diary of royal engagements.

The Duke of Sussex will return to the UK for the first time in four months today but he will not be meeting with his brother.

Harry will attend the WellChild Awards on Monday, which falls on the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death.

Prince Harry regularly attends the annual event and his appearance today will be his 15th time at the award ceremony.

The Duke of Sussex has also confirmed a second public appearance in the UK for September 9th.

On Tuesday, Prince Harry will travel to Nottingham to visit the Community Recording Studio (CRS).

He will be announcing a substantial donation to Children in Need to help support their work tackling violence impacting young people.

Kensington Palace has announced that Prince William will be undertaking royal engagements on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week, directly clashing with Prince Harry’s two confirmed public appearances in the UK.

Later today, the Prince of Wales will carry out an engagement in Sunningdale to commemorate the life of Queen Elizabeth II, marking the three-year anniversary of her passing.

On Tuesday, Prince William will visit Spiral Skills, a youth organisation in Lambeth, which has received funding from the Homewards Fund to expand their services for young people in the local area.

Finally, on Wednesday, September 10th, William will visit a pioneering new mental health hub run by the Jac Lewis Foundation, which is launching at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, with backing from The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales.

It was already unlikely that Prince William would meet with the Duke of Sussex this week as the brother are not on speaking terms.

A source told the Sunday Times regarding the prospect: “At the end of the day, as he’s (Harry) no longer a member of the institution, he doesn’t feel bound to de-conflict his diary with the institution.”

Prince Harry’s trip is the first time the Duke of Sussex has returned since suffering a crushing court defeat in May 2025.

It will end the royal’s hiatus from the UK, which has gone on for four months since he lost his legal battle for taxpayer-funded armed police protection.

The ruling meant that armed police bodyguards, paid for by the British taxpayer, will not be automatically reinstated for Harry, Meghan and their two children when in the UK.
