Princess Kate and Prince William are taking steps to avoid a blunder made by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, according to a royal commentator.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were given Frogmore Cottage by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The couple opted to renovate the property, but barely lived in the royal residence once they stepped down as working members of the Royal Family.
King Charles eventually evicted the couple from Frogmore Cottage and it is currently left unoccupied.

Royal commentator Grant Harold told GB News, in collaboration with Heart Bingo, that Kate and William will be wary of making a similar mistake over the renovation of Forest Lodge.
Harold said: “At the moment, the costs of the Royal Family are being looked at constantly, especially with the cost of living.
“When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were given a cottage by the late Queen, the renovation costs to the public were criticised - even though they paid it back.
“William and Catherine are aware of that, they don’t want the public paying for anything.
“They’ve got the money to pay for it, so they want to show that they’re doing it themselves.”

The couple will relocate from their current four-bedroom residence, Adelaide Cottage, to a much larger property later this year, alongside their three children.
Forest Lodge will be a substantial upgrade from Adelaide Cottage, featuring eight bedrooms across three storeys compared to their current four-bedroom accommodation.
The property contains six bathrooms, a long gallery, and underwent £1.5 million worth of renovations in 2001.
The Prince and Princess of Wales will pay a market rent for Forest Lodge, which is never publicly disclosed for commercial reasons.

The building work has already begun ahead of the Wales family moving in by the end of 2025.
Sources close to the couple emphasise that their 2022 relocation from Kensington Palace to Adelaide Cottage served as a trial period to assess whether the area suited their family's needs.
