The GB News star soon revealed that she 'was only joking' and reassured viewers she would remain at the channel

Michelle Dewberry has left her GB News panellists stunned after making an unexpected declaration that she was departing The People's Channel.

The GB News host began her programme with what she described as "very sad news", announcing this would be her final appearance on the show.

However, Michelle soon revealed that she "was only joking" and reassured viewers she would remain at Britain's News Channel, stating she "couldn't leave this country".

She told viewers: "I start the programme with some very sad news. This is my last GB News ever.

"Nobody knows that yet." Turning to Barry Gardiner who was sitting on the panel she said: "thank you for your shock and horror."

"Do you know why? Because I watched Donald Trump’s press conference this afternoon and I was cheering at my screen. Ladies and gents, that man is not messing around.

"And I thought to myself this country is in such a mess, I’ve got to pack my bags, give Bev Turner a run for her money, and head off to Trump’s America.

"I imagine it would feel so much safer over there with a leader talking as tough as he seems to be.

"I’ve got to tell you I’m only joking. I’m staying put. I couldn’t leave this country, could I?

"Sorry for upsetting you like that, but there’s absolutely no way I’m going anywhere."

Trump revealed measures today to assume federal authority over Washington DC's police force whilst mobilising National Guard personnel to address criminal activity in the capital.

The American President disclosed these initiatives on Monday as part of an extensive public safety strategy.

The comprehensive security operation encompasses dispatching 500 federal law enforcement personnel to Washington DC, alongside one hundred FBI operatives who will assist in the crime reduction efforts.

Trump indicated that whilst the initiative would commence in the nation's capital, the anti-crime campaign would subsequently expand to encompass other regions across America.

The President's declaration represents a significant federal intervention in local policing matters, with the National Guard deployment forming a central component of his administration's approach to tackling violent crime in Washington DC.

The federal intervention forms part of a wider security initiative that Trump characterised as essential for restoring order to the American capital.

The deployment of National Guard forces showed an escalation in federal involvement in local law enforcement matters, with the president asserting direct control over Washington DC's police operations.
