"That's how Melania, the First Lady, and the President met, according to Michael Wolff."
Mr Wolff has written four books about Mr Trump, the most recent having been published this year.
Mrs Trump's lawyer, Alejandro Brito, said the author was a "serial fabulist" in the letter to Mr Biden and referenced "lies" he allegedly told about Mrs Trump which were published in an article by The Daily Beast.
The news website later apologised and removed the article.

Mr Brito demanded in the letter that Mr Biden issues a "full and fair retraction" of the video and issue an apology or face paying $1billion in damages.
The letter, published by Fox News, concludes: "If you do not comply with the above by August 7, 2025, at 5pm EST, Mrs Trump will be left with no alternative but to enforce her legal and equitable rights, all of which are expressly reserved and are not waived, including by filing legal action for over $1billion in damages.
"You are on notice."
A source told Fox News Digital that Mr Biden did not meet the requests by the stated deadline.
