Tom Harwood has expressed astonishment at new polling data revealing the Labour Government's approval rating has plummeted to minus 56, matching the Conservative Party's dismal figures immediately before their crushing electoral defeat last year.

The YouGov survey reveals that merely 13 per cent of the public approve of the Government's performance, whilst 69 per cent express disapproval, creating the stark minus 56 net rating.

"The Government’s net approval rating has crashed to minus 56.

"This is particularly striking because it matches the final rating of the Conservative Government before their disastrous 2024 election, we all saw what happened there.

"Apparently, only 13 per cent of people approve of this Government, while 69 per cent disapprove.

"That makes the -56 net approval rating pretty shocking. It’s hard to express just how low this is for such an early stage. The Government is only one year into its time in office.

"Of course, many Governments become unpopular mid-term, that’s not unusual.

"But to be this low, this quickly, is almost unprecedented."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Labour's turbulent first year in office has been marked by controversial decisions and policy reversals that have contributed to the Government's plummeting popularity.

The Prime Minister himself faces dire personal ratings, with his net popularity standing at minus 44. Only 24 per cent of Britons view Sir Keir favourably, whilst 68 per cent hold negative opinions of him.

Perhaps more concerning for Labour is that Reform UK leader Nigel Farage enjoys significantly better ratings despite remaining a divisive figure.

The Brexit campaigner holds a net score of minus 29, with 32 per cent viewing him positively and 61 per cent negatively.

Even more striking is that Jeremy Corbyn, Sir Keir's predecessor who recently announced a new left-wing party, outperforms the current Labour leader with a net rating of minus 35.

Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch records a minus 31 rating, whilst Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey performs best among major party leaders at minus 3.

The broader cabinet faces similar challenges, with Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner experiencing a twelve-point drop to a net rating of 59 amongst party members, despite remaining relatively popular.
