Sadiq Khan breaks silence on 'unacceptable' Notting Hill Carnival violence

Sadiq Khan has told GB News that the violence that took place at the annual Notting Hill carnival was "unacceptable".
It comes as the Metropolitan Police said there were 349 arrests over the weekend with 102 on Sunday and 247 on Bank Holiday Monday.
Now, the Mayor of London has paid tribute to the four people that remain in hospital as well as the police officers injured over the weekend.
He added that behaviour "did not reflect" the majority of people who celebrated peacefully at the annual event over the weekend.

A spokesperson for the Mayor of London told GB News: “The Mayor’s thoughts are with the families of the four people who are in hospital as well as the police officers who were injured during the weekend.
“This violence is simply unacceptable and does not reflect the majority of people who celebrated peacefully over the weekend. The Mayor would like to pay tribute to the hard work of the organisers and all our brilliant police officers and emergency service personnel for everything they did to help Londoners this weekend."
Meanwhile, a mother has been left in a coma in a life-threatening condition after being stabbed as she tried to intervene in a fight at Notting Hill Carnival. Shakiel Thibou, 20, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court earlier today charged with the attempted murder of Cher Maximen, 32.
The court heard the victim had attended Notting Hill Carnival with her three-year-old daughter and other family and friends on Sunday and was stabbed in the groin in broad daylight.
