A poll conducted by LabourList found the Chancellor and Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall as the least popular

Labour members have turned on Rachel Reeves as she topped a new list of ministers that Labour members would want to see culled in a Cabinet reshuffle.

A poll conducted by LabourList showed that around 46 per cent of party members believe the current Chancellor should be replaced if there were to be a shakeup of the Cabinet.

Second on the list was Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall on 42 per cent, who is at the centre of the storm surrounding the controversial welfare bill.

One party source said they were not surprised by Kendall’s score, saying she is also behind Winter Fuel Cuts and Waspi changes, in addition to the welfare plans.

It comes after an MP told The Independent this week: "This ends one of two ways: either we sack him [Starmer] or he sacks her [Reeves].

The most popular Cabinet members in the poll were Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner and former party leader turned Energy Secretary Ed Miliband.

In positive reading for senior Labour figures, most of the cabinet had fewer than three in 10 members saying they should be replaced.

None of the figures had a majority of supporters calling for them to face the chop.

However, pressure is building on Starmer's chief of staff and key ally, Morgan McSweeney.

McSweeney was credited with playing a crucial role in purging leftwing Corbynite MPs, pulling the party towards the centre and setting the Government’s agenda.

While he is cited as the mastermind who helped propel Labour into power with a massive majority, there are reports of discontent is starting to build within the party.

One long-standing MP told the Financial Times: "Everyone is selling shares in Morgan...People are starting to put their heads above the parapet and say maybe he’s not the Messiah after all."

However, these claims were rubbished by another loyalist MP.

They said: "People need to grow up and get serious...this is a problem with the country, not with Morgan McSweeney.

"You can brief against staffers, slag off politicians, but the cost of welfare will still be unsustainable."
