Labour MPs have called for a Rwanda-style deportation scheme as figures show the number of asylum applications has reached record highs.
Home Office data stated 111,804 people applied for asylum in Britain, up by 14 per cent compared to June last year.
It is the highest number for any 12-month period since records began in 2001.

Some 39 per cent of the claims were from small boat migrants, with over 50,000 arriving since Labour entered power.
Upon winning the election, Labour scrapped the Conservatives' Rwanda scheme, which would have seen Channel migrants sent to the East African country while their asylum claims are processed.
Sir Keir Starmer ended the scheme on his first full day as Prime Minister as he pledged to "smash" the people smuggling gangs.
Mr Starmer is now facing calls from Labour MPs to implement a similar scheme as they voice their concerns about the "dire" migration figures and the rise of Nigel Farage's Reform UK.
Mansfield MP Steve Yemm wrote in his local newspaper: "Labour must focus on innovative solutions like return hubs overseas and new bilateral agreements.

"Under those agreements, every small boat arrival would be sent not to a UK hotel but to a third country where they would stay even if their claim was upheld.
"If all 900 arrivals were deported on a Monday, and all 700 on the Tuesday, then how many might arrive on the Friday?"
Shadow home secretary Chris Philp called for an emergency Cabinet meeting earlier this week “to establish plans for the deportation of all illegal immigrants upon arrival” and citied the "catastrophic decision" to scrap the Rwanda plan.
In a letter to Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, Mr Philp wrote: “This migration crisis has happened because you made the catastrophic decision the cancel the Rwanda deterrent just before it was due to start, with no replacement plan.
“The Rwanda scheme would have seen every illegal immigrant deported upon arrival and made it impossible to claim asylum if you entered the UK illegally."
The Conservative politician went on to reference "concern" about where migrants who are currently living at the Bell Hotel in Epping will go following an interim injunction imposed by the High Court to stop them being housed there.

The Conservative politician added: “Given this crisis unfolding on your watch and the concern about where the Epping migrants will go, will you.
“Hold an emergency Cabinet meeting to establish plans for the deportation of all illegal immigrants upon arrival and to resolve the migrant crisis you have created – just as the government recently held an emergency cabinet meeting on recognising Palestine.
“Commit that none of the illegal immigrants currently in the Bell Hotel will be moved into hotels, HMOs (houses in multiple occupation), apartments, or social housing which are much needed for British people.
“The previous government established alternative accommodation on current or former military sites and an accommodation barge, which are all alternative options while deportation plans are put in place.”
