Conservative MP Peter Bedford has launched a scathing attack on Labour's handling of the Channel migrant crisis - accusing the Government of making "excuses" rather than taking decisive action.
The newly elected Conservative MP criticised Labour for scrapping the Rwanda deterrent scheme, which he claims has led to rising illegal boat crossings.
The Channel migrant crisis has reached unprecedented levels under Labour's watch, with more than 38,000 arrivals since the party took power last July.
Saturday saw 1,195 migrants cross in a single day, marking the fifth-highest daily total since the crisis began in 2018.

The figure represents a 33 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2023-24, when 28,452 arrived.
Speaking to GB News, Conservative MP Peter Bedford said: "Well, there's always an excuse, isn't there?
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
"Clearly, the last government made some mistakes in this area, and I was elected as a Conservative MP. I'm a new Conservative MP, so I want to bring some new ideas to the table.
"That's why I'm signing up to Rupert Lowe's early day motion on this. There's always an excuse, isn't there?
"The weather, legal loopholes, the French, what else? We've got to sort this problem out. People in this country want real action on this crisis, and it is a crisis."
More than 14,811 have already crossed from France in the first five months of 2025, the highest figure for this period since records began.
Internal Home Office assessments indicate Labour could preside over the worst year for Channel crossings on record, with projections suggesting up to 50,000 migrants could arrive by the end of 2025.
The Government has faced fierce criticism for attempting to blame weather conditions for the surge in crossings, with data on "red days" when calm seas enable smoother journeys set to be published for the first time.
Bedford has thrown his support behind an early day motion tabled by independent MP Rupert Lowe calling for mass deportations, which has garnered signatures from thirteen MPs including Conservatives and Ulster Unionists.
"Clearly, the government is divided on this. The last Conservative government tried to bring in a deterrent here the Rwanda bill," Bedford told GB News.
"One of the first things this government did was scrap that deterrent, and that is why we're seeing these illegal boat crossings rise week after week."
The Conservative MP emphasised the need for cross-party cooperation on the issue, stating he wants to "bring some new ideas to the table" as a newly elected MP.
He stressed that collaboration with independent MPs, the DUP and Conservative colleagues was essential to deliver the "robust action" demanded by the British public.
