Sir Keir Starmer has been left facing backlash after being accused of "needlessly cruel" treatment of female aides in No10.

The Prime Minister lost a third top aide earlier today after his principal private secretary Nin Pandit was moved over to another post inside Downing Street.

Ms Pandit's departure comes after Sue Gray was axed as the Prime Minister's Chief of Staff, with ex-communications chief Matthew Doyle also left No10.

A source close to No10 told The Telegraph that it was a "bad look" for Downing Street to "mishandle" Ms Pandit's exit, adding that briefings against her were "inaccurate and needlessly cruel".

Despite Boris Johnson's ex-Chief of Staff Dominic Cummings labelling Ms Pandit work in the pandemic as "brilliant", the former NHS digital executive was earlier this year accused of being "useless" by No10 insiders.

Rosie Duffield, a former Labour MP who quit the party last year in a fiery row with the Prime Minister over women's rights, suggested Ms Pandit's departure was another example of Sir Keir running a "boys' club".

She told The Telegraph: "This latest staff loss seems to be following the pattern of senior women who appear to be briefed about when out of favour and are moved aside shortly afterwards.

"Whether ministers, backbenchers, or No10 staff, it bears out the feeling of many women in the Labour Party that Sir Keir and his closest allies do indeed have a problem with women."

Ms Duffield was at loggerheads with Sir Keir over the Prime Minister's position on trans women.

Sir Keir has been accused of flip-flopping over the definition of a woman, previously insisting that trans women were women and that women could have a penis.

Following the latest change inside No10, Tory leader Kemi Badenoch said: “Keir Starmer keeps sacking advisers, losing ministers, and briefing against his own team in the papers.

“Another reset won’t hide the truth – he has no plan, no direction, and needs his red folder to remind him what he stands for.”

However, a spokesman has insisted that the Prime Minister did not lose confidence in Ms Pandit and instead moved her to the new position because of her years of extensive policy-making.

Experienced No11 official Dan York-Smith is now expected to move into Ms Pandit's position to improve No10's economic expertise.

However, no official appointments have yet been announced by Downing Street to confirm any changes.

Sir Keir is expected to make further changes as early as next week, No10 insiders have told The Guardian.

Despite speculation of major changes inside No10, Chris Wormald is reportedly safe in his role as Cabinet Secretary.

The expected changes come as Sir Keir's ratings continue to tank following the 2024 General Election.

A recent Find Out Now poll had Labour on just 18 per cent, significantly behind Reform UK on 34 per cent.

Nigel Farage's party is also now consistently leading in the opinion polls, with Find Out Now's becoming the 92nd consecutive survey putting Reform UK in first-place.

No11 has also been conducting a major shake-up ahead of Rachel Reeves's crunch second Budget.

Pensions Minister Torsten Bell is said to have been given a greater hand in preparing for the fiscal statement.

“He’s the main driving force in closing any type of tax relief,” they told The Telegraph. “He hates the fuel duty cut and freeze.

"He was the one pushing for taxes on farmers and small businesses and also slapping inheritance tax on pensions. He will no doubt want to apply National Insurance to everything."
