Esther McVey has waged a war on woke, with a plan to save taxpayers' money and end wastage in public spending.
She called for the public sector to "embrace common sense" over "political correctness"
Writing in the Daily Mail, she said: "As we approach 2024, I believe one of the Government's New Year resolutions should be to ensure all parts of the public sector embrace common sense instead of political correctnes.
She says residents in her Tatton constituency regularly tell her they are "sick of having to tighten the family's purse strings when they see public purse strings getting looser and looser".

She added: "That's why I'm beginning my own investigations to help root out the waste and unnecessary bureaucracy that plagues too much of the public sector."
The former GB News presenter was appointed to a Cabinet position last month, with insiders saying her role is effectively to serve as the "Minister for Common Sense".
Her husband, Conservative MP Philip Davies, claimed McVey will take on the "Blob" and "put a stop to some of the nonsense that we see".
The minister also used her article to highlight recent revelations that some local councils are paying the heating bills of staff who are still working from home.
Since 2019, 11 local authroties have spent as much as £450,000 on employees' energy.
McVey said the revelation is a "a perfect example of a bad decision to which any taxpayer would object".
She added: "And yet, it was allowed to happen."
Writing in the Mail, she said: "I've become known as the 'Minister for Common Sense', and it is a moniker I am happy to embrace as I think the public is crying out for more common-sense decisions across the public sector.
"I am often frustrated at hearing how our fine public institutions are being hamstrung by unnecessary working practices, or using public money in wasteful ways.

She added: "This Government and Prime Minister has shown time and again that we're not afraid to challenge the consensus to reduce waste and save money - and now we have succeeded in halving inflation, our priority is to control spending so that we can cut taxes.
"We don't want you to see a single penny of your hard-earned cash wasted on unnecessary public spending."
