OPINION: Instead of wandering around the world giving his unwanted views about the Israel-Iran war, why doesn’t Keir Starmer focus on what's going on in Rochdale?

How is this allowed to happen? How did Pakistani Qari Rauf continue to live freely inour country after being convicted of being raping and trafficking young white girls living in in Rochdale?

Instead of wandering around the world giving his unwanted views about the Israel-Iran war, why doesn’t Keir Starmer focus on Rochdale and kick the paedophile out of the town and force Pakistan to take him back?

I repeat, why is Rauf, 55, still here anyway? He was one of nine men jailed in 2012 for raping and trafficking vulnerable girls across northern England. He received six years, an astonishingly light sentence when you think of the nightmare he put those white girls through.

After 2.5 years, Rauf was told he would be deported, but avoided removal by destroying his passport and claiming to be stateless. Pakistan hid behind that and refused to accept him without valid travel documents.

That Pakistan refuses to take back scum like Rauf, who has brought so much pain to our nation, should be a damn sight more worrying to Starmer than him being a bigshot by hanging out with his Nato mates.

Surely, we can simply make it illegal to tear up your passport, and surely we can put pressure on Pakistan to do the right thing.

Locals in Rochdale are furious. But Starmer doesn’t seem to care about the little people. The fact that, some ten years later, Rauf is back living in a terraced house in the same town where he targeted those white girls is of no issue to him.

One of the more incredible aspects of this scandal is that Rauf has been given a panic button installed in his home linked directly to Greater Manchester Police.

It doesn’t stop there. According to the Daily Mail, when a mother in the area approached the police and asked for Rauf to be removed, she was bluntly told he had ‘’done his time’’.

I cannot help but feel that if Gary Glitter, a convicted paedo but this time white, lived in that area, he would be forced out by a mixture of the media, local politicians and neighbours.

I feel sorry for the mums who live nearby. Lots of kids live down his street, and the parents are constantly checking and rechecking to make sure that Rauf is not hanging around them. They aren’t being overdramatic; they are simply being cautious mothers. I don’t blame them.

One neighbour, Lena Carter, who has lived in the area for three decades, is quoted as saying: ‘’The police will turn up and remove you if you are near his house. They tell us to leave him alone.’’

Nobody would want a Rauf living near them. He should be forced out of Rochdale and made to live in a hostel. How is he supporting his life anyway?

You wouldn’t have to be a genius to work out that he is receiving benefits, which I imagine is the reason that he doesn’t want to return to Pakistan, where people like Rauf don’t receive a penny from the state.
