Last Monday, I had the honour of joining Ellie Costello and Mark White in the GB News studio to chat about all things Oscars.
I must admit, following Bev Turner's coverage live from Hollywood was no small feat. She had just delivered a brilliantly dry take on why the Oscars are overly political and not worth the fuss… which meant it was then my job to enthusiastically explain why everyone should absolutely be watching all the films. A natural double act, really.
I always like to double-check my facts before, so I spent the days leading up to my appearance feeling like I was back in Year 11 revising for my GCSEs.
Only this time, instead of memorising how to say where I live in Spanish, I was revising how many Oscars Leonardo DiCaprio has won (one) and how many award shows Sean Penn decided to attend this season, despite winning every major award (also one).
I was so committed to the cause that I even considered taking up table tennis to really put myself in the shoes of Timothée Chalamet (it was a toss-up between that or ballet).
Up until the Oscars, my live journalistic experience consisted of years in a booth reading radio news bulletins, and I knew that having a good face for radio wasn't going to cut it anymore.
I'm hoping that when I went on air, no one could tell I had already been at my desk for nine hours, as the Oscars selfishly decided to begin at 11pm GMT.
Before I knew it, the sun was up, and I was in the studio and live on GB News Breakfast.

Ellie immediately put me at ease with her warmth, and by casually mentioning that Jessie Buckley was her favourite of the night.
A huge relief, as I had committed an arguably unnecessary amount of Jessie Buckley trivia to memory. At that point, I felt quietly confident that things might just go to plan.
Thankfully, they did.
I’m incredibly grateful to GB News for the opportunity to step into the studio, and to our brilliant Entertainment Editor Alex Davies - who was originally meant to take the slot - for very kindly going on his stag-do.
Hopefully, I will see you all again soon.
