I'm being classed in with Jake Berry, but I've not held elected office now for three years

As you all know, we are regulated by Ofcom.

Never had a problem with that until this morning, and a press release comes out from Ofcom saying whether Farage, GB News, or Jake Berry, Talk TV, broke due impartiality rules and rules preventing politicians acting as news presenters.

That is their latest investigation. Now, I'm going to respond to that by saying this.

To begin with, Sir Jake Berry was until recently, a cabinet minister is still an elected member of Parliament. He is by any definition a politician.

And there are rules about politicians broadcasting in this country.

They cannot broadcast on breaking news stories, but they're perfectly free to do commentary and debate.

So I'm being classed in with Jake Berry. But here's the point. I've not held elected office now for three years.

I'm not a candidate for any party. I may be honorary president of Reform, but I have no executive or fiduciary responsibility at all.

I'm not an activist. I mean, I wanted to in some ways, but I haven't been up at the by-elections, I haven't been doing press conferences, I am not a politician.

Even I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!, the biggest TV show in Britain, had up there ex-politician and GB News presenter.

And isn't it funny that every week there are acres of speculation in the newspapers? Will Farage return to politics?

So they can't have it both ways. If the whole of the media industry that write politics and current affairs think I'm currently not in politics, Ofcom, you have got this wrong.

And I would point out that this is tonight is the 550th episode of Farage. We have never had a single complaint upheld against this program for due impartiality or indeed for anything else.

So why now? Why two-and-a-half years into this job have Ofcom decided to do this?

Could it be something to do with the fact there is an election this year and perhaps there's a bit of establishment pressure being put on the regulator? I don't know.

But I tell you what, folks, you want to come and pick a fight with me? I'm ready anytime you like.
