Nicola Sturgeon has been terrible for Scotland and her career has ended in self-inflicted failure, says Mark Dolan

Parting is such sweet sorrow. Pint sized populist Nicola Sturgeon is no more, and I called it six weeks ago.

As I’ve said for a long time, wokeness, also known as extreme political correctness, contains within it, the seeds of its own destruction.

Why? Because the ideas within it are so bonkers.

Take critical race theory, which essentially says you are racist based upon your skin colour.

I would humbly suggest that thesis is problematic at best and dare I say it, perhaps a little racist. And then there’s gender ideology, which pub bluntly, says a man is a woman or a woman is a man, purely based upon how they feel, ignoring the scientific reality of biological sex.

In the end, notwithstanding all of the nonsense and posturing from high-profile media figures, politicians and powerful institutions and corporations, the truth will ultimately defeat wokeism.

The truth will navigate its way through the hyperbole, the bullying and the propaganda, and make its way out the other side, like water through a leaky roof.

Having failed to achieve her dream of independence, it's my view Nicola Sturgeon has been left with no tangible legacy.

Other than infuriating more than half of the population, with her controversial trans policies, including the new self ID bill, which allows a bloke to call himself a woman after about 10 minutes of thinking about it.

I exaggerate, but you get my point. This policy allows a biological, fully intact male to identify as a completely different sex, and to enjoy unfettered access to womens’ sex-based rights, after just three months, with no need for a professional diagnosis.

Leaving actual women – biological females – they're not that hard to define – exposed to intact, biological males in female prisons, in female, changing rooms, in female toilets, rape, crisis centres, you name it. This is progress is it?

So, with this crazy and ideological policy, Sturgeon has thrown herself under the bus. Astonishing from a highly politically astute and talented operator, who did make herself one of the most significant public figures in European politics.

She successfully won a propaganda war against Boris Johnson during the pandemic, announcing measures, hours, sometimes days before London, undermining the then PM. She has achieved extraordinary electoral success, having turned Scotland into an effective one-party state, partly off the back of the abject failure of the Tories and Labour north of the border.

But now she's out. And what’s she got to show for it? Eye watering levels of drug deaths, a shocking attainment gap in education that she promised to fix, and asked to be judged on, a Scottish NHS, which on paper boasts a fiscal debt, equivalent to 12% of Scotland's GDP.

Public health in Scotland is atrocious – and it’s not deep fried Mars bars to blame. It’s Nicola Sturgeon’s policies, because she was in charge. If she hadn't allowed the woke capture of her party, she would she could look forward to another decade of political dominance, but the woke shit, took her down. As it always will.

We’ve seen that in New Zealand, with the holier than thou premiere of New Zealand, Jacinda Arden, the Kiwi Mussolini herself, whose outrageous, and illiberal policies, all in the name of being nice and being progressive, brought such damage to the people of New Zealand.

During the pandemic New Zealand was not a free, rational western democracy. It was a totalitarian hell, in which the #BeKindSuperstar Ardern Spoke Proudly Of Creating Vaccine Apartheid, With a two Tier Society For Those jabbed and Those Not. She Also, At One Point, At the Height of her megalomania, announced that the government was the only source of information.

Well, Sturgeon wasn't much better in my view, and the SNP's Covid response was stricter than the rest than England’s, for example, with Johnson leading Britain out of Covid measures in July 2021, whilst Scotland maintained hellish mask mandates and other Covid regulations. Sturgeon would argue they were focused on saving lives with a stricter policy. But the numbers, don't add up, with Scotland's Covid death toll comparable with the rest of the UK, if not worse.

Nicola Sturgeon is often compared to wee Jimmy cranky, but I beg to differ. Because Sturgeon's rule has been no laughing matter.

She's gone. And with her, goes the SNP’s magical hold on the great country of Scotland. With her goes an appalling assault on women's rights via the gender ID bill and with her goes the dream of independence.

At least for now. Woke warriors, be warned. The war is going badly and your generals are falling by the day. Nicola Sturgeon is not a bad person and as I've mentioned she has her talents. But it’s my view she has been terrible for Scotland and her career has ended in self-inflicted failure. So first minister, as you enter a rather early retirement, good luck. And good riddance.
