We're all now living in a GB News world, writes the channel's Editorial Director

DO you remember where you were when you realised we’d entered a thrilling new world? I do. Five years ago, sat at home, I switched on GB News as it burst onto the nation’s screens, with a big bang that blew apart TV news forever.

It changed the course of the country for the better, too. With a bold and very British mix of news and opinion, GB News landed like an asteroid, flattening the old media landscape, laying waste to its rivals, and establishing itself in a short space of time to become Britain’s number one news channel.

This bold new world is one where viewers and listeners are allowed to have their say. This bold new world is where people are allowed to make up their minds for themselves about the big stories of the day.

It’s a bold new world where the number one news channel tells the political establishment exactly what is on the mind of the British people – and what they want doing about it. But in that bold new world, some dinosaurs still stagger around.

The asteroid didn’t quite wipe every one of them out. These dinosaurs, lumbering around the outer reaches of the internet, the dustier end of the nation’s newsstands, and lonelier corners of Parliament, refuse to believe they will soon be extinct.

But if you listen carefully, you can occasionally hear their dying screams. Every now and then, the scream manifests in a newspaper ‘investigation’, an emergency podcast or a parliamentary question.

Bitter, pompous old has-beens from the old media or political establishment telling GB News and our audience that we are dangerous idiots or idiotically dangerous, depending on their mood.

These scaly old reptiles are usually ex-Guardian or BBC types who went to a better school or university than you and me, leaving with First Class degrees in sneering condescension.

Occasionally, they are leaders of moribund political parties who spend more time on bouncy castles and bungee jumps than bilaterals with major world leaders.

What all these have in common – aside from impending extinction – is that they are wrong, and they always have been. These are the very people who have allowed this country to get to the perilous point we find ourselves in today.

Establishment media and politicos who have ignored the will of the people for too long and are now reaping what they have sown – social and cultural rot that threatens the very fabric of Britain. It’s their fault we are looking into the abyss – and they hate the fact that the real people of this country use GB News to call them out on it.

But regular hit jobs by these guys and a bunch of their mates who deign to lower themselves and watch the channel every now and then for 20 minutes to form their views are losing their power. Their powers are waning while the power of GB News, and you, the people we serve, grows by the day.

GB

We are growing because we know what people want to see and hear from their favourite news channel. We are growing because we are earning the trust of people who understand we are the only ones willing to stand up and fight for them.

Look what we’ve done.

GB News has been there for the victims of grooming gangs.
GB News has been there for the elderly who lost their Winter Fuel Allowance.
GB News has been there for the people of our rural farming communities, clobbered by changes to Inheritance Tax.
GB News has been there for the owners and staff of our local pubs, clobbered in the Budget.
GB News has been there to preserve freedom of speech, the integrity of the criminal justice system, national identity, patriotism, and pride in this still brilliant country.

We have shifted the Overton Window so many times that we could have single-handedly kept Britain’s double-glazing industry in business. I’m proud to work for The People’s Channel, and I’m proud of the people who work here alongside me.

I won’t sit quietly while they are unfairly criticised. I’d like to see the journalistic and political dinosaurs come into GB News, look our brilliant on and off-screen staff in the eye and dare to criticise them to their face.

They wouldn’t because they are cowards. They’d prefer to hide behind their keyboards, podcast mics and questions in parliament rather than say it out loud in the real world. But the real world is rejecting them.

The dinosaurs will soon have all died out. The new world is here. It’s a GB News world.
