Becoming a Friend of GB News means being part of a place that embodies the true values of friendship, writes GB News' Editorial Director

Something’s going on. Can you feel it?

The old landmarks that have dominated the political and media establishment for generations are crumbling one by one. For so long, they've held the whip hand over your lives, over what you can say and even what you can think. But change is happening at a blistering pace, and GB News is at the heart of it.

Great change can bring great uncertainty and the fear of what lies ahead. And what you need more than anything at times such as these is a friend. Daily, GB News extends the hand of friendship to everyone in this great country of ours.

We started life over four years ago as a flickering light of hope emerging from the abyss into which British TV news had descended. Growing up, we’d always been told to have total trust in our big TV news stations and newspapers.

I used to think they understood the British people, knew right from wrong, and took care to beam nothing but the plain truth into our front rooms every day.

But the idea that they were providing us a platform where we would truly experience different points of view has turned out to be a lie.

Up until June 2021, common sense and free speech on our airwaves were dying out. Aside from a few lone voices, broadcasting had been annexed by a so-called elite, determined to foist their questionable and sometimes downright dangerous views upon you all.

They’d argue wrong was right, and in some cases, that men were women. They told us we were free - but only to think like sheep, keeping with the flock’s accepted opinion. But then came GB News.

We decided we had to be a platform where people could think for themselves again. The People’s Channel, where you can have your say without fear of condescension or cancellation.

We fight for you because we know you believe in us. Enemies have come at us from all directions since day one. But now - with four consecutive months as Britain’s number one news channel under our belts and a determination to stay at the top - we are getting stronger by the day.

And things won’t be going back to the way things were, you can have our word. What we’ve witnessed at the BBC recently shows even more why an institution like GB News is essential. Plenty still don’t get it. The Culture Secretary included.

Despite all the evidence of recent times, she still believes the BBC is a “light on a hill".But beware. Get close to a "light on the hill" and you might find it’s no welcoming beacon. Just a lighthouse torn from its moorings, and you get washed up on the rocks below.

Despite the efforts of our critics, GB News continues to grow. We aren’t just a TV, Radio and digital station. We are a community made up of friends. And friends gather closer in uncertain times, looking out for each other.

This year has seen tensions rise in our villages, towns, and cities. The strain of uncontrolled immigration and an ever-rising cost of living has put huge stress on people and public services.

The next few months look odds-on to be as challenging as we’ve ever faced before. As the nights draw in, the temperatures plunge, and prices in the shops keep rising, we all nervously await the Budget and what it may bring. Will it deliver unexpected gifts? … or will it simply be the nightmare before Christmas?

Whatever emerges, we will need each other this Winter and beyond. And when the cold winds stop howling, when the ice starts to melt, we all want to know we’ve done our best to shelter those most in need.

Trust in the establishment media is at its lowest, and we have a political class that fails us daily. Both media and politics are fragmenting fast, with movements and platforms springing up almost daily.

Almost all are fronted by people who claim to be on your side. But tread with care, many are wolves in sheep’s clothing, seeking to exploit you and this country for their own sinister ends. Becoming a friend of GB News means being part of a place that embodies the true values of friendship.

A place of loyalty, honesty, forgiveness and joy, GB News is the place where friendship can flourish into greatness for all of us. Choose carefully who you put your trust in.

Grasp our hand of friendship. Britain's future, its cherished voices and its values, could depend on it.
