Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says 6,000 Russian troops have been killed in the opening six days of the ongoing invasion.
In an update on the situation on Wednesday morning, Zelenskyy also reiterated that Russia can't overcome Ukraine with bombs, strikes and rockets.
Missile strikes continued on Tuesday night as the invasion entered a seventh day.
A university building in the country's second city, Kharkiv was one of the areas that came under attack, a day after a government building was also targeted.
But Russian forces are still struggling to capture Kyiv despite footage showing an almost 40-mile convoy of army vehicles north of the capital.
Mr Zelenskyy added: "They don't know a thing about Kyiv, about our history. But they all have orders to erase our history, erase our country, erase us all."
The Ukrainian President was given a standing ovation my MEPS when speaking in European Parliament on Tuesday as he continues his plea for Ukraine to be recognised as an EU member state.
He said: “I don’t read from paper, the paper phase is over, we’re dealing with lives.
"Without you Ukraine will be alone. We’ve proven our strength; we’re the same as you. Prove that you’ll not let us go. Then life will win over death.”
