Ms Brabin, who is now the mayor of West Yorkshire, was rushing from a music event when she arrived at the Commons.
She says she is now using her experience to tackle hate crimes against women and “everyday sexism” in Parliament.
She said: “It comes from my own experience — I don’t think a male metro mayor would have that.
“I was called a slag, a slapper, a tart, drunk; someone said I looked like I’d just been banged over a wheelie bin.

“It uncovered this split in the universe where the misogynists just fell on my head."
She added in conversation in with The Times: “It was all about the dress — but the reason I was in there was to haul the government to the Commons."
Police now class misogyny and misandry as hate crimes in West Yorkshire because Ms Braben has the powers of a police and crime commissioner.
She said: “It is a very different landscape in parliament. Parliament is full of people who are almost sole traders,” she said, referring to MPs’ staff.
“If you get to the point where you run the business, you can make change. It is often junior members of staff who bear the brunt.”
Her comments come after Neil Parish formally resigned as an MP after the veteran Tory admitted watching pornography in the Commons.
