Kamikaze drones were reported across northern and eastern Ukraine, including Kherson, Odessa, and Zaporizhzhia.

Ukraine's Air Force Command said: “The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Defence Forces of Ukraine.

“Thirty enemy drone simulators were lost…without negative consequences.

“As a result of the enemy attack, the Odessa, Mykolaiv, Donetsk, and Zhytomyr regions suffered.”

Donald Trump has also aligned himself alongside European leaders, putting pressure on the Kremlin to reach a diplomatic deal.

The US President called for "ideally" a 30-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.

The US president also warned that if any temporary treaty is violated, the US and its allies will "impose further sanctions."

Sunday's attack came just after Putin rejected a month-long ceasefire but claimed that Russia was ready to resume direct peace talks in Istanbul on Thursday.

Zelensky responded: “We expect a ceasefire from [Monday] – complete and lasting, to provide the necessary basis for diplomacy.

"There is no point in prolonging the killings."

It is unknown whether Putin will travel or meet directly with the Ukrainian President.
