England Football fans have been warned about travelling to Serbia ahead of the national team's upcoming fixture in Belgrade.

The England men's team will be playing against Serbia on Tuesday, September 9, as part of the World Cup Qualifiers.

The national team are top of the group, having won all three games played as they look to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in the United States.

As part of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office's (FCDO) foreign travel advice for Serbia, fans travelling have been referred to the England Football website.

England Football has put out an "important notice" after Serbia was sanctioned by FIFA.

"FIFA has sanctioned Serbia with a partial stadium closure for this fixture following racist behaviour by some of their fans in a previous match," the website indicated.

"Meaning parts of the ground will be closed off to Serbian supporters."

England Football has reminded fans to be aware of any potential abuse.

The national team told fans they could also text "+447790371105" for immediate help or advice.

It asked those to check advice before travelling, including general advice for female travellers, a guide for disability and travel abroad, general advice for LGBT+ travellers, safety for solo and independent travel and advice on volunteering and adventure travel abroad.

Those who are travelling have been told to "research your destinations and get appropriate travel insurance".
