A woman who was “cancelled for being beautiful” says women are still jealous of her a decade on.
Ten years ago, Samantha Brick wrote an article in the Daily Mail, titled “why do women hate me for being beautiful”.
The article turned Ms Brick into a hate figure and one of the original victims of cancel culture.
Ms Brick defended her body confidence, while friends ditched her over her body confidence.
Ten years on, she has written a new article, titled “I think I’m even more beautiful and women still hate me.”
Within the article, she said “I am resolute because a decade on – now 51 and perimenopausal, no longer blonde by brunette, and still a proud size 10 to 12 – I still think I’m beautiful.
“In fact, I’d even say I’m more beautiful than ten years ago.”
Speaking to Dan Wootton Tonight about the anniversary and her new article, she said: “I’ve been going back and forth about six months about whether I do it or not, because I thought do I stoke the trolls again, what will my family and friends think.
“Because first time around I just wrote it, it was one of those things where something happened and it was a real shoot from the hip, you pitch the idea and people go oh I love it.
“And the morning it ran, that’s when my world changed really.
She added: “A decade ago my late 30s early 40s I put that down to them and squarely put it onto them and their anxieties and insecurities.
“A decade on a lot of people aren't happy with themselves and their lives.
“Women who are still trolling me I can see I just feel sorry for them to be fair.
“In Britain we’re really into false modesty.”
