The latest data shows illegal crossing attempts reached peak levels - climbing to 304,162 in just one month

A US border city is reportedly at “breaking point” after being overwhelmed by a vast number of migrant arrivals.

More than 2,000 people a day are entering the US and claiming asylum, leaving authorities in El Paso struggling to keep pace with the massive influx of people.

The Texan city of Eagle Pass was forced to declare an emergency after more than 8,000 arrived in just one week.

Migrant numbers crossing the border have surged in the last six weeks, jumping from around 350 people per day to the thousands.

“The city of El Paso only has so many resources and we have come to... a breaking point right now,” El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser said.

To stem the tide, Leeser has chartered buses to take migrants to sanctuary cities such as New York, Chicago and Denver.

Leeser claims the migrants being sent from El Paso on buses were going voluntarily to cities of their choice.

“I think it's really important to note that we have a broken immigration system,” Leeser said.

“It's the same thing over and over again.”

The comments come after Biden came under fire for failing to get the migrant crisis under control.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott tore into Biden for his failings and for undoing his work in trying to prevent more crossings.

Illegal crossing attempts jumped to the highest number on record, reaching 304,162 in just one month, the latest figures show.

“Texas installed razor wire in Eagle Pass to stop illegal crossings,” Abbott said.

“Today the Biden Admin CUT that wire, opening the floodgates to illegal immigrants.”

“I immediately deployed more Texas National Guard to repel illegal crossings & install more razor wire.”

Abbott added: “I officially declared an invasion at our border because of Biden's policies.

“We deployed the Texas National Guard, DPS & local law enforcement.

“We are building a border wall, razor wire & marine barriers. We are also repelling migrants.”

Last week, GB News sat down with Rudy Giuliani in a wide-ranging interview to discuss a number of topics including the migrant crisis in New York.

The ex-New York mayor blamed both Biden and current mayor Eric Adams for the debacle.

“The mayor over-promises and under-delivers by saying ‘I’m going to make New York City the great immigrant city of the world’," he said.

"Now people are comparing it to a third world city. It isn’t but compared to what it used to be, it's a disaster.”
