The US President said he wanted to leave a little time 'before visiting the stricken region'

Texas flash floods have killed 82 people, including at least 28 children, as the search for girls missing from a summer camp entered a third day.

Fears of further flash flooding, as rain fell on already saturated ground, have prompted new evacuations.

The sheriff of Kerr County, Larry Leitha, confirmed 68 people had died in flooding in his county, among them 28 children.

The county is the worst-affected area, lying at the epicentre of the disaster.

Trump said: "I would have done it today, but we would just be in their way, probably Friday."

Hundreds of rescues were deployed to affected regions over the weekend.
