Joe Biden released a statement wishing The King a 'swift and full recovery'

Lee Cohen has slammed Joe Biden as a "false friend to the United Kingdom" after the US president released a statement that wished King Charles a "swift" recovery.

The King was diagnosed with cancer earlier this week and Biden soon released a statement that read: "Navigating a cancer diagnosis and survivorship takes hope and absolute courage.

"Jill and I join the people of the United Kingdom in praying that His Majesty experiences a swift and full recovery.

Speaking to GBN America Lee Cohen, an ex-UK adviser to the US House of Foreign Affairs, said: "I think for a president who really is under the microscope for inflicting a lot damage on the special relationship with the United Kingdom, he doesn't seem to care much about it.

"When that same King was crowned at the first coronation in nearly 70 years, Joe Biden couldn't even be bothered just to show up.

"So he's saying the right thing. I don't take issue with what he said.

"It was a good statement.

"But, our next president, who was a former president, had a great deal of admiration for the Royal Family and his British heritage.

"Joe Biden is a false friend to the United Kingdom, but he did say the right thing at this time for the King."

Lee Cohen also explained that America is "concerned" for King Charles following his health news.

Buckingham Palace announced on Monday that the King has been diagnosed with a "form of cancer" and is undergoing treatment.

It was later revealed that The King had told his close family members, including his two sons William and Harry, over the phone before the statement was released.

Prince William paid tribute to his father at an event yesterday and Prince Harry visited his father in the UK after the news broke.

Cohen expressed that America is wishing the monarch well.

He said: "I want to wish every good outcome for the King and pray for his swift and full recovery.

"And I know my countrymen join me in that. In his brief reign, he has shown admirable leadership, moral clarity, and ability to inspire the best in humanity and his people.

"So we are concerned for him. We need him. We want him to be strong, and we want him to get well soon."
