The Sheriff's Office added: "We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim in this tragic event.

"We would like to express our gratitude to all the agencies that helped with this situation.

Earlier this week, tributes flooded in for a pilot who died when his plane crashed into a runway and burst into flames.

Major Maciej "SLAB" Krakowian was piloting an F-16 jet in the Polish city of Radom when the accident happened on Thursday.

The plane had been practicing a loop-the-loop for the Radom Air Show, which has since been cancelled due to the incident.

Dramatic footage of the crash showed a fireball erupting as the plane hit the ground, before the burning wreckage skidded nearly 60 metres along the runway.

The Polish military confirmed no one on the ground was injured.
