Straka created the #WalkAway social media campaign before the 2018 midterm elections

Brandon Straka revealed to GBN America what he thinks are the key issues that need to be tackled in the November election and outlined the "border, truth and wokeness and weaponisation of justice system" as the most important.

Straka created the #WalkAway social media campaign before the 2018 midterm elections as an educational tool to encourage Democrats to leave their party and join the Republicans.

A former Democrat, Straka said he voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election and was shattered when Trump won.

Speaking to GBN America at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Starka said: "Border Number one, I'm very concerned about what's going on with our border.

"Number two, I would say I'm very concerned about woke ideas and woke policies in our schools, in our entertainment industry and and media. So I would say truth and wokeness.

"But the number one issue for me is the weaponisation of the justice system. I am a person who was, I'll use the word, victimised by the Department of Justice and the FBI.

"I stood outside of the Capitol for eight minutes on January 6, didn't go inside the building, didn't riot, didn't engage in violence or vandalism or theft or destruction.

"I shot a video and I uploaded my video to social media. Because I did that, the FBI raided my home, put me in handcuffs, took me to jail. I spent days in jail and then I went through a year-and-a-half-long case.

"If I wasn't a stronger person, it would have destroyed my life. You know, at this point, some defendants have committed suicide.

"I totally understand why. It's one of the most brutal things that's ever happened in the history of our justice system. And so that is a huge issue for me going into this election.

He also explained the reason why he left the Democrats for the Republicans. He explained: "I voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016 after voting for Barack Obama twice in a lifetime of voting for Democrats.

"And when Trump got elected, it was like an earthquake, everything became disrupted. I was personally disrupted.

"I mean, angry, confused, outraged, scared. And so I went on a journey of research to try to understand how it happened.

"Why would anyone vote for this man? And so I started asking all these questions and researching and going back and watching all these media clips in these moments in proper context.

"I started to realise after months of research that Donald Trump was not my enemy, but the media that I've been trusting my entire life was my enemy. Essentially I've been brainwashed and manipulated by propaganda, anti-Trump propaganda.

"Two things were happening at the same time. I was starting to gain a better understanding of Trump and starting to like him better as a politician, as a president, while also realising that I couldn't trust the media sources I'd been trusting my entire life.

"It was that betrayal that was like the ultimate catalyst to me walking away."
