Tesco have been slammed by angry customers after they opened “discoloured and disgusting” Easter eggs.

Customers were left fuming after being accused of selling “out of date” chocolate treats.


One angry shopper said: “Thanks Tesco for the out of date chocolate Easter egg hunt box.”

Accompanied by a photo of a egg which seemed to be discoloured, they added: "Every one of these disgusting eggs was this bad."

While another said that a Bounty Easter egg was “discoloured and disgusting”.

A third shopper, who bought a Thorntons Easter egg from the supermarket chain said it was also a "funny colour".

Tesco have offered to refund any customers who are “unhappy with the quality of their eggs”

A spokesperson said: "We take great care to ensure our Easter eggs are sold in the best possible condition.

"On the rare occasion a customer is unhappy with the quality of their egg, we're happy to arrange a replacement or refund if the customer returns the item to store."

A spokesperson at Thorntons added: “At Thorntons, we pride ourselves on the quality and freshness of all our products”, adding that its customer services will be in touch with the disappointed customer
