GB News has approached West Yorkshire Police for comment on whether they had any luck catching that swan.

When a swan was seen running around a busy road in Leeds, residents were concerned for the safety of the winged animal with one man taking swift action.

Adam Bowler, 36, observed the swan outside of his Leeds home and made efforts to move it to safety by using a baguette.

After the plucky swam evaded efforts to move it on, Mr Bowler called 999 after being unable to get through on 101, over fears the swan could be a danger both to itself and members of the public on the highway.

The early morning swanning about was observed near a major A-road.

Mr Bowler told Leeds Live: “It was just confusing, you don’t obviously see that kind of thing usually. It was just walking down the road. It was holding the traffic up. It wasn’t interested in eating bread or anything. We think it was trying to find its way back to Roundhay Park.

“Me and another member of the public tried to offer it bread, I think it was a baguette kind of bread. I tried to give it to the swan, but it just wasn’t taking it.”

“If it jumped onto a car or something, the car might swerve or whatever, there could be a number of possibilities.”

According to Mr Bowler, a Police Community Support Officer arrived on the scene sometime after 10:15am, and although he found it a “tense situation” he said the swan chasing had cheered up his morning, “you hear a lot about the lockdowns, Covid and crime. It was just something different for the police to deal with.”
