Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish have given evidence as defence witnesses in Kevin Spacey’s sexual assault trial.

The couple have taken to the stand via video link from Monaco in the trial at Southwark Crown Court.

Spacey is accused of charges including sexual assault and indecent assault against four men in the UK, which he denies.

Sir Elton, 76, appeared wearing a black jacket and white shirt - the same choice as his husband.

Furnish has been married to star since December 2014 after entering a civil partnership in 2005.

Spacey's alleged offences are said to have been committed between 2001 and 2013.

During the trial, jurors heard how Spacey stored “the most expensive” Mini Cooper “ever” in Sir Elton's garage.

The actor explained he bid on the vehicle at an auction in the early 2000s and the singer “kindly” stored it for him.

Last week while giving evidence, Spacey denied he is a sexual bully and labelled the prosecution’s case against him as “weak”.

He accused one alleged victim of being after “money, money and then money” before adding he could have had sex “all the time” but found it hard to trust people because of his fame.

Spacey said he “objected” to the term “crotch grab” that his alleged victims had used in accusations against him and denied it was a “trademark” move.

Responding to claims he had made "vile comments" towards a man he met in a West End theatre in the mid-2000s, Spacey denied this.

He said there were "deeply personal" reasons why he would not do such a thing.

After the accusation that he had assaulted the man was put to him, Spacey replied: “absolute bollocks”.

The trial continues.
