An eight-year-old boy has been labelled a "superhero" by his mother after saving her life when he found her in a coma.
Brodie Allan though his mum, Susan, 46, had slept in, thinking he was going to be late for school.
The boy realised his mother was out cold on the floor of their home in Airdrie, Scotland, and attempted to wake her up.
He knew she suffered from type 1 diabetes, but called 999 when the attempts to wake her up failed.
"If it wasn't for his quick action and response I wouldn't be here to tell the tail after my horrific ordeal with my diabetes," Ms Allan said.
"(I was) in a coma for 4 days.
"So so lucky to be alive, but watch out guys as his story is being told with the Daily Record, so proud of him."
Brodie took his mum's pulse and checked her breathing while he was on the phone as paramedics rushed to the scene.
Susan Allan was found unconscious by her son
|Ms Allan was found in a coma due to a diabetic ketoacidosis, a complication of diabetes - due to a severe lack of insulin - which can be life-threatening.
The single mother told the Daily Record that she "had been unwell for quite some time".
"It's all to do with my diabetes being out of control," she said.
"I have been a type 1 diabetic since I was two years old which has been difficult."
Susan Allan was in a come for four days
|Ms Allan said she was unwell and lying on the couch after Brodie had gone to bed.
"Brodie was supposed to go to school in the morning and I usually wake him up for school," she said.
"He thought I had slept in and he came down to find me lying on the floor."
Ms Allan said that her son tried to wake her up and attempted to get hold of their neighbour, along with her mum and dad, "but he couldn't get hold of them".
Ms Allan said Brodie then called 999.
"He told the emergency services I'm diabetic and that he had tried to do my blood sugars, and that he couldn't wake me up," she said.
Ms Allan was unresponsive when paramedics arrived and spent four days in a coma in Monklands Hospital.
She said that the paramedics had told her that if it was not for Brodie's actions, she would have died.
Ms Allan said the ordeal "was quite horrific" as she was unconscious.
She added that doctors also told her that if her son had gone to school, she would have died.
The single mother declared her son had "saved my life" and that he was a superstar.
However, she admitted it had "traumatised" him, but was proud of her son being given a certificate of bravery by his school.
