COP28 President Sultan al Jaber said there was "no science" to suggest phasing out fossil fuels will limit global warming

Leader of Reform UK Richard Tice has shut down Senior Meteorologist Jim Dale, as the pair became embroiled in a row over climate change.

This follows the annual climate change summit COP28 where the President Sultan al Jaber sparked fury, after claiming there is "no science" to suggest phasing out fossil fuels will limit global warming to 1.5 degrees.

Al Jaber stated that a phase-out of fossil fuels is "inevitable and "essential", but argued that we need to be "real, serious and pragmatic about it".

Following the backlash to his comments, al Jaber said his statement had been "misrepresented".

Appearing on GB News, Reform leader and GB News presenter Richard Tice revealed he wanted to debate with Jim Dale, after hearing his previous comments on the show.

Dale had told previously claimed to GB News that Richard was "running away" from him over climate change, and criticised "climate deniers".

Reacting to the claim, Tice said he was "screaming at the TV" as Dale requested a debate with him

Dale thanked Richard for answering his call for a conversation and "picking up the baton". Dale stated: "It's the messages that go out in terms of the man-made climate denial side of things".

"I feel you're rowing backwards. You're not seeing the light. You're not seeing what eminent scientists, much better than me, make absolutely clear."

Richard hit back, replying: "There's no such thing as settled science. We all agree the climate has changed for billions of years. It always will.

"My point is, anybody that suggests that you can stop climate change, I believe is misinformed, deeply misinformed. Of course man made CO2 has an impact. There is a serious scientific debate as to what percentage that is and what you do about it.

"Look, climate change is caused by solar variability, by sea level, oscillation by volcanic activity. The idea that man can be so arrogant, you think you can stop that, is a nonsense."

Jim argued in response: "You've got to see the science and follow the science. You are the Pied Piper of climate change denial, that's exactly what's going on, you got people following you who are clueless as to what's going on."

Richard fumed: "Jim I've literally just said the climate's always changed and always will! The deniers are those who think you can stop it.

"You are misleading people if you say you can stop climate change. Do you think if we get to net zero, climate change stops?"

Jim answered: "If we get to net zero, climate change stops, to a degree we're going in that direction. You're cutting off the economic prowess of this country by that kind of denial, that kind of rowing back, Sunak's doing exactly the same."

Tice then claimed: "Net zero is the greatest financial liability this country's ever voluntarily imposed on itself. It's sending our jobs and money overseas. We've got zero growth."
