Residents who live on Prince Andrew Drive in Malinslee, Telford, are divided on what should happen.

As Duke of York Prince Andrew faces a civil case in America following allegations made by Virginia Giuffre, residents in Telford are mulling what to do about a local street name.

Residents who live on Prince Andrew Drive in Malinslee, Telford, are divided on what should happen.

One resident has said they plan to write to Telford & Wrekin Council in order to request the name be changed, "We think it should change," they said. "We've been thinking about writing to them. It's not right that it's named after him."

Other residents did not seem to be too bothered with Terry Beech saying: "I don't think you can change it. You can't keep rewriting history. It doesn't really bother me. It's always been Prince Andrew Drive…. You can't erase history. He's still part of the royal family."

Speaking to the Shropshire Star, Kim Beech said: "You wouldn't go and find a house on Jimmy Savile Street. I find the names of some of the new streets a bit ridiculous."

Both Terry and Kim said no eyebrows has been raised when telling people their address.

Virginia Giuffre sued the prince in federal district court in August last year, accusing him of "sexual assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress."

Whilst streets named after or linked to members of the Royal Family can have thousands added to property prices, another resident said "I wouldn't mind seeing the back of that name."

Telford & Wrekin Council have been approached for comment.
