Liverpool largely dominated the game with Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane both pulling impressive saves from Thibaut Courtois early in the first half.
Sadio Mane looked to have found it in the 21st minute, impressively jinking into space in the box before getting away a low shot that Courtois tipped onto a post.
Real Madrid though had their time on the attack, almost grabbing the opener in the 43rd minute. Karim Benzema had a shot ricochet pass Alisson; however, the goal was disallowed with the striker ruled offside.
Los Blancos were not to be denied though as Vinicius Jr met with Federico Valverde’s low cross to slot home the goal in the 59th minute.
Liverpool end this season with just the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, meanwhile just a week ago, they were in contention for a quadruple charge.
