Dewberry said her priority is ‘protecting women and children’

Michelle Dewberry has hit out at tree surgeon Sophie Louise Carter, who was prosecuted under the name Dominic Mark Carter, but changed her gender at her sentencing hearing at Southampton Crown Court.

Carter was caught with indecent images of children and given a six-month suspended prison sentence, following the incident in April 2021.

Speaking on her GB News show, Dewbs & Co, Michelle fumed at the decision by the court, branding it "appalling" and a "real risk to children’s safety".

Dewberry said: "I've got goose pimples on my arm. This is wrong, this self-ID thing that is going on in this country.

"The man that reckons that he's a woman and yet all hail the guy, because he's got a pink shirt and a pink pair of shorts on and pink nail vanish and a stupid pink headband on his head whilst having a face full of stubble.

"Yes, I am sure it might help some vulnerable individuals here and there, but we are now seeing time and time and time again that this is being abused. Why aren't we standing up? Why aren't we pushing back against this?

"Why are we just randomly sitting here looking at pictures of men being described as women, convicted paedophiles, pretending that they are women?"

Joined on her show by former Daily Star Editor Dawn Neesom and Navaro Media's Aaron Bastani, Neesom responded to the host’s scathing attack on the case.

Neesom replied: "Because you're accused of transphobia and that is what happens. You get hate mail and death threats like JK Rowling."

Sophie Louise Carter, 39, attended the court dressed in a pink t-shirt and pink shorts with pink nail polish on.

Judge Nicholas Rowland told her: "The reason that children around the world are subject to abuse and it is filmed is because people seek gratification.

"People like you get gratification from looking at those images."

Michelle Dewberry continued in her heated rant on the offender, stating she is "astonished that this is going on in our criminal proceedings".

"Do you know what my priority is? Protecting children. Protecting women. That is my priority anyway. I'm getting a right sweat on. I'm getting all het up."

Carter has five convictions for six past offences and was given a six-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months.

She must complete 60 rehabilitation activity requirement sessions and 120 hours of unpaid work.

She must also register as a sex offender and is subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for five years.
