The Queen had her first opportunity to finally meet her great-granddaughter Lilibet on Thursday evening, according to a royal commentator.
Author of Finding Freedom, Omid Scobie, told BBC Breakfast the Sussexes have a “warm and close” relationship with the Queen and that as the couple and the monarch were in Windsor on Thursday evening, it could have been the first time Lilibet met her great-grandmother.
Lilibet, who was named in honour of the Queen, will celebrate her first birthday on Saturday, and the trip is the youngster’s first to the UK.

Mr Scobie added: “I think people are expecting some sort of big birthday extravagant event that we’re going to see photographs from. From what I’m told, we shouldn’t expect anything.
“Those moments with Lilibet are very much private between them and the Queen and of course we know how much she’s been looking forward to it.
“They’ve been held back by a pandemic. Of course the times that Harry has been here it’s just been by himself for quite sombre occasions. And so this really was the first time.
“Of course we know the Queen went back to Windsor Castle yesterday, the couple went back to Windsor as well where they’re staying at Frogmore Cottage.
“So that would have been the first moment or the first chance for her to meet her namesake.”
Buckingham Palace are yet to comment on the alleged meeting.
Jubilee celebrations commenced yesterday morning, with working members of the Royal Family partaking in the Trooping the Colour.
The Royal Family gathered on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to spectate the RAF flyover. The Queen was accompanied by working members of the Royal Family including the Prince of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were spotted through a window at Horse Guards Parade during Trooping the Colour.
The Duhcess of Sussex was seen playfully hushing Savannah Phillips and Mia Tindall during the ceremony.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were chauffeured from Farnborough airport to Windsor by the Queen's close protection officers on Wednesday morning.
Arriving on a private jet to the UK from their California home, the couple were transported to their Windsor home, Frogmore Cottage, by bullet-proof cars.
Meghan and Harry ascended the stairs of the Cathedral earlier today, holding hands and smiling and waving to cheering crowds.
The couple arrived after the Earl and Countess of Wessex, and their two children, and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie along with their husbands.
They spent a few minutes talking to the senior cleric before they entered the place of worship and proceeded to greet the long line of clergy who are taking part in today’s service of Thanksgiving.
Harry stopped to chat for a few moments with the Archbishop of York who later will give the sermon and is expected to praise the Queen’s 70-year reign.
The couple will not be attending the Thanksgiving reception after receiving a frosty reaction at St Paul's service.
