The supermarkets are warning customers not to eat the product

Supermarkets across Britain have recalled a brand of popcorn due to the presence of the pesticide as Lidl take urgent action to remove product from shelves.

Lidl is warning customers that the chemical product Chlorpyrifos is no longer approved for food use in the UK.


Customers who have purchased Snaktastic Microwaveable Popcorn are urged not to eat the product and to return it to their nearest store.

Although the consumption of the popcorn is unlikely to pose an immediate risk to health, continuous consumption of Chlorpyrifos over a long period of time may pose a potential risk to health.

The recall affects both Salted and Sweet variants in the size 3x100g.

Anyone who has bought the brand of popcorn with best before date 17/12/2024 are advised not to eat it and to return the product to their nearest store where a full refund will be given.

Other supermarkets have also recalled several products amid safety fears this week.

Stores including Sainsbury's, Aldi and Tesco have recalled items in recent weeks, with customers urged not to eat them but instead return them.

Gosh! Food Ltd is recalling various Sweet Potato Pakora and Falafel products because they may contain gluten which is not declared on the label.

Aldi, Sainsbury's, Lidl, Morrisons and Tesco are warning customers that the products are a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease, and/or an allergy or intolerance to gluten.

Anyone who has bought Gosh Sweet Potato Pakora with Red Pepper, Cumin & Chilli 171 g, 200 g, 256 g, 300 g with date codes up to and including 09 June 2023 are advised to return the item.

Other items affected include Gosh Sweet Potato Pakora with Red Pepper, The Deli Sweet Potato Pakora, The Deli Butternut Squash, Tomato and Basil Falafel, The Deli Moroccan Style Falafel.

Supermarkets have recalled several products amid safety fears this week

Waitrose is also recalling its Rude Health Organic Ultimate Muesli because it contains Brazil nuts (nuts) which are not mentioned on the label.

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to Brazil nuts (nuts).

The recall affects the 400 g pack size with the best before date of February, 8, 2024.

Anyone who has bought the product and has an allergy to Brazil nuts is advised not to eat it.

Instead return it to the store from where it was purchased for a full refund, with or without a receipt.
