The mother of a five-year-old boy who plunged to his death from a window on the 15th floor of an East London tower block had complained to her council on numerous occasions about the safety of said window, family members have said.
Police said the boy, named locally as Alam Makial, had fallen from the window in his parents' flat in Jacobs House in Plaistow just before 6am yesterday.
Paramedics and a trauma team had arrived on the scene within minutes to reports of a child having "fallen from height", but a London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed that "very sadly, a child was pronounced dead at the scene".
And now, Makial's family members have revealed that his mother complained at least five times to local Newham Council about a safety latch on the window from which he fell.

Maryan Hadafow, the boy's aunt, said her nephew had died after getting up early before school, adding that his family was asleep when he fell out of the window.
Hadafow told the Sun: "He went into the kitchen and opened the window. He got up early to go to school. He was a lovely boy.
"His mother has complained to Newham Council about that window.
"She sent five emails about how they open, and said they were not safe for her kids - but no one did anything."

The boy had attended the nearby New City Primary School, and yesterday, three teachers laid a bouquet of flowers on a bench outside Jacobs House.
A relative had told the Evening Standard: "They are very sad, devastated - they are in a bad way. The dad is in Canada, the mum is here. How can this have happened?"
While a neighbour added: "I spoke to the mum a few weeks ago, and I saw her with her son in the lift with her boy - he was lovely... Today, she could barely speak."
Another resident, a 28-year-old mother-of-two, said: "We are in utter shock - we know the family. The parents are at the hospital - other family members are in the flat.
"Apparently, the boy was up early and then fell from the window... It was an accident, but no one knows how it happened. People are looking for answers."
A Newham council spokesman said: "The council is continuing to establish the facts regarding this tragic incident.
"Until we have further information, we're unable to make any further comment.
"Our priority is to support the family at this devastating time."
