Graham George Spencer was viciously attacked by a pack of otters in the Singapore Botanic Gardens, he was bitten 26 times in 10 seconds and required hospital treatment after bites to his legs, fingers, and bum.

Some of the wounds resulting from the attack at on 30th November this year required stitches.

Shockingly, The Straits Times reports this is not the first occasion people have been attacked in the park.

Whilst the animals are normally unaggressive, it is likely the otters reacted because they felt threatened for some reason.

Mr Spencer, in his 60s, told The Straits Times: "I actually thought I was going to die - they were going to kill me.”

He reportedly sighted a romp of otters, numbering over 20, crossing a dimly lit path in the early hours of the morning. Initially moving “quietly” the animals “went crazy” after a runner disturbed the otters.

The otters attempted to bite the runner before turning their attention to Mr Spencer.

Bites to his ankles caused Mr Spencer to fall on his face, as the otters moved in on his legs and bum, one otter bit his finger.

Luckily a friend “screamed and shouted” at the others who briefly paused their vicious assault, whilst Mr Spencer was able to run to a nearby visitor centre with otters giving chase.

The total medical bill for Mr Spencer came to around $1,200 which included three visits to treat his wounds. He intends to spend Christmas with his family but it remains unknown whether he will be well enough to travel to Britain
