Nigel Farage believes the White House is “very scared of Donald Trump” as he hits out at the “shocking” FBI raid on the former President’s Florida home.
Mr Trump said FBI agents raided his Mar-a-Lago estate on Monday and broke into his safe in what his son acknowledged was part of an investigation into the former President’s removal of official presidential records from the White House to his Florida resort.
The unprecedented search of an ex-President's home marks a significant escalation into the records investigation, which is one of several probes Mr Trump is facing from his time in office and in private business.
But speaking about the incident on GB News’ Breakfast with Eamonn and Isabel, Nigel said he was “utterly appalled”, adding that he believes the raid will play into Mr Trump’s hands should he run for Presidency at the 2024 election.

Nigel said: “Utterly appalled, shocked. I know there’s been a witch hunt against Donald Trump ever since he was elected in 2016.
“Russia hoaxes, conspiracy after conspiracy but this is truly astonishing.
“No former President, even people like Nixon who left office in disgrace, no former President has ever been treated like this.
“And it shows me the extent at which they are very, very scared of Donald Trump.
“They’re scared he’s going to come back, his party will storm the mid-terms and he’s coming back to the White House in 2024.”
He added: “And to any fair-minded person, they are going to say ‘how on earth can this be happening in 21st century America? What have we become?’ A banana republic.
“And actually, in terms of the electorate and fair-minded people it will play very heavily in Donald trump’s behaviour.
“The danger and the worry is that the divisions in America are so great the preponderance that we’ve seen towards street violence over the last couple of years is growing and I just worry that it could provoke some sort of violent reaction.”
It comes after Mr Trump dropped a major hint that he was running for President in 2024.
When asked about when people can expect a formal announcement about his running at Conservative Political Action Conference in Texas, Mr Trump said: “It’s certainly not a very long period, the time is coming. I think people are going to be very happy, our country has never been in a position like this, we’ve lost everything.”
