The homeowner branded the request 'unreasonable'

A homeowner has hit out at her neighbour for demanding flowers be removed from her garden simply because they didn't "fit her aesthetic".

The woman claims her neighbour asked for the plants to be removed because they "ruined the beauty" of her own garden.

However, the disgruntled homeowner branded the request "unreasonable", saying she has "every right" to enjoy her own garden.

She wrote to Reddit: "Neighbour demands I remove my plants because they don't fit her aesthetic".

"[My] entitled neighbour came over and told me I had to remove them because, they ruin the beauty of her yard, the homeowner explained.

"She argued that since she spends more on her yard, she deserves a better view. I find this really unreasonable since the plants are on my side, and I have every right to enjoy my garden."

The Reddit user requested the advice of others who have faced similar disputes with their neighbours.

The post added: "How do people usually deal with neighbours who think their personal preferences override the rights of others?"

Hundreds of comments were left in response to the post, with many suggesting the homeowner should install security cameras.

One person wrote: "Get security cameras installed as soon as possible.

"Very often this level of entitlement leads to ripping out your yard while you are not home and if you have no proof who did it you will be on the hook (or your insurance will be) for the damages."

Another Reddit user simply said the woman should "add more plants".

"I usually respond with a simple no, as I did with a bullying neighbour who tried to get me to take down a tree he didn’t like," a third person commented.

Others suggested the homeowner installs a fence around her garden for added privacy.

Another added: "Get more plants that don’t fit her aesthetic!

"Why? Because you can."

Typically, it is considered trespassing for a neighbour to enter a garden without your saying so in England and Wales.

Neighbours can however possess a legal right to access the land in order to carry out repairs to their own home under the Access to Neighbouring Land Act.
