Officers have launched a huge search to find the missing baby

Missing aristocrat Constance Marten and her partner Mark Gordon have been arrested after being found in Brighton amid a search to find their baby.

Police are now searching an area between Brighton and Newhaven to locate their missing baby who has not received medical attention since birth in January.

Marten, 35, and Gordon, 48, have been travelling around Britain by taxi after their car was found burning on the M61 in Bolton, Greater Manchester, on January 5.

It is unknown if their baby was full-term or has any health issues.

Officers say the pair were located and arrested in Stanmer Villas, Brighton on Monday night after a member of the public reported seeing them shortly before 9.30pm.

The force previously believed the couple had been sleeping in a tent, as they avoided being traced by moving around regularly and keeping their faces covered in CCTV images.

The couple travelled from Bolton to Liverpool, then to Harwich in Essex, before heading to east London and finally Newhaven in Sussex, where they were seen near the ferry port on January 8.

Marten, who is from a wealthy aristocratic family, was a promising drama student when she first met Gordon in 2016.

Since then the couple have led an isolated life, and began moving around rental flats in September, when Marten was well into her pregnancy.

The 35-year-old mum may have given birth in the back of a car which was later found burnt out in the greater Manchester area.

Concerns started to grow as neither Marten, nor the baby have seen a doctor.

The mum, whose family formerly owned the £100million Crichel House estate set across 5,000 acres in Dorset and has links to the Royal Family, disappeared on January 5.

Last week Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford said around 50 officers were working on the case at any one time and more than 630 hours of CCTV had been viewed.

There had been more than 350 calls to police from the public with information following previous appeals.

A £10,000 reward had also been on offer for information that led to them being found safe.
