The Police Federation has warned that Britain faces potential widespread disorder this summer

Stephen Dixon has declared that Britain has "got to stop" being an attractive destination for migrants, following his co-host Ellie Costello's reference to a French politician's characterisation of the UK as "El Dorado".

During a discussion about asylum accommodation, Ellie noted that Britain had become too appealing for those attempting Channel crossings, who anticipated receiving care upon arrival.

The exchange occurred whilst discussing the Government's use of a hotel in Canary Wharf for temporary asylum seeker accommodation.

The Home Office maintains it is progressing towards a more sustainable accommodation system, including phasing out hotel usage and implementing locally managed alternatives.

Speaking about this on GB News, Ellie said: "It's like the French MP, isn't it, who described Britain as El Dorado. Just saying.

"It's got too much of a pull factor. People want to cross the channel because they know they're going to be looked after."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Stephen Dixon said: "Yeah. That's where you've got to stop. It's got to stop."

The Police Federation has warned that Britain faces potential widespread disorder this summer, with law enforcement agencies ill-equipped to manage escalating demonstrations at migrant accommodation facilities.

Tiff Lynch, the federation's national chairman, characterised recent violence in Epping as a "signal flare" indicating further troubles ahead.

She warned that assuming officers could maintain order indefinitely would be "dangerous" given current resource constraints.

Police commanders face impossible choices between maintaining local peace and addressing national emergencies, Lynch explained.

The federation added that forces lack adequate preparation for managing protests, particularly those coordinated through online platforms.

Brian Booth, the federation's deputy chair, described services as stretched to breaking point, comparing the situation to an elastic band approaching its snapping point.

He emphasised that continuous redeployment of officers through national mobilisation plans was creating unsustainable pressure on already depleted forces.

Migrant crossings have increased this year

Violence erupted outside the Bell Hotel in Epping after a 38-year-old man, believed to be residing there as an asylum seeker, faced sexual assault charges.

The subsequent demonstrations have already cost Essex Police £100,000, according to police sources.

Eight officers sustained injuries when protesters hurled bottles and flares during confrontations outside the facility.

The force required assistance from neighbouring constabularies to manage the disorder.
