More than 2,000 small boat migrants have crossed the Channel in less than a week, GB News can reveal.

At least 250 people have made the treacherous crossing so far on Tuesday.

French authorities have been dealing with a major outbreak of violence in the migrant camps, with multiple fatal shootings and stabbings since the weekend.

Sources have told the People's Channel the migrant camps are "like a warzone".

The latest crossing count comes just hours after Sir Keir Starmer admitted the situation in the Channel is "deteriorating" following crunch talks with Emmanuel Macron, Giorgia Meloni and Friedrich Merz at a G7 summit in Canada.

The Prime Minister, who has been vowing to "smash the gangs" since being elected almost a year ago, is putting pressure on authorities across the Channel to do more to curb crossings.

Starmer said: "I want to see more cooperation in northern France, and it’s an issue that I have raised and will raise again with President Macron."

Following Starmer’s meeting with the French President, a No10 spokesman said: "Migration should be a key focus given the deteriorating situation in the Channel, they confirmed - adding that they should continue to work closely with other partners to find innovative ways to drive forward progress."

As the Prime Minister prepares to mark his first year in No10, Channel crossings have surged, hitting 30,000 on March 26.

On the same day, GB News revealed migrant crossings for 2025 had already hit 6,100.

Since then, that number has ballooned to almost 16,000, meaning overall figures since Starmer entered office could be as many as 40,000.

GB News has revealed that in the last 10 days alone, 10 migrants were shot in a French camp outside Dunkirk, two fatally.

Three migrants were dragged from a boat off the French coast yesterday and transferred to hospital with stab wounds.

Our source told the People's Channel that much of the violence was linked to disputes between the well-established Kurdish people smuggling gangs and African migrants.

The source said: "These camps have always been pretty lawless, but what we're seeing now is deeply worrying.

"We're seeing Kurdish gangs going after the Sudanese and other African migrants to mete out punishment to those planning to storm the small boats without paying.

"It all stems fom this increasingly common tactic by gangs of mainly African migrants, who storm the small boats as they're launching, forcing their way on board, often using weapons to intimidate the other migrants and steal their places.

"It was always going to come to a head, and that's excatly what we're seeing now.

"These camps are like a warzone at times."
