Michael Schumacher's brother, Ralf, announced that he is gay in a social media post on Sunday.

The former Formula One star shared a picture standing arm-in-arm with his partner on Instagram as the identity of the mystery man was revealed.

A close friend of the pair said Schumacher is in a relationship with his business manager, Etienne.

The 49-year-old's post was flooded with well-wishes and support from fans and celebrities.

German actress Carmen Geiss revealed in a comment on the picture that the duo had been together for two years.

She wrote: "You have the best partner, Etienne, you can imagine. After two years you can finally show your love to the world. I have known Ralf for more than 25 years and he has always been a great joy to me.

"Always liberal, a good-hearted person who I can call day and night and above all has always been honest with me in his position.
