Royal expert Angela Levin has accused Meghan of encouraging Serena Williams "to complain about how a woman is held back" during the first episode

Meghan Markle has been slammed over the release of her new podcast “Archetypes”.

The Spotify podcast promises to investigate "labels that try to hold women back", with the first episode being released on Tuesday.

During the first episode "The Misconception of Ambition with Serena Williams", Meghan talks to the tennis star about the double standards women face when they are labelled “ambitious”.

Among the topics discussed included Meghan having to leave her son Archie following a house fire in South Africa, in order to take part in royal engagements.

While during a discussion about moments in Ms Williams’ time as a player, Meghan said: "Oh my gosh you were treated completely unfairly."

But speaking out following the release of the first episode, royal expert Angela Levin was less than impressed.

Ms Levin said on Twitter: "Meghan's first podcast is out.

“She and Serena Williams giggle away with lots of 'oh my gosh'.

"Meghan encourages her to complain about how a woman is held back and how they are victims.

“You couldn't make it up."

The release of Archetypes comes just weeks before Meghan and Prince Harry are due to visit the UK for several charity events.

The couple will travel to Manchester for the One Young World Summit on September 5, before heading to Germany for the Invictus Games Dusseldorf 2023 One Year to Go event, and then returning to the UK for the WellChild Awards on September 8.

It will be the first time the Sussexes have visited the UK since the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June, to mark Her Majesty’s 70 years of reign.
