Meghan, alongside husband Prince Harry, broke away from the Royal Family in 2020.
Now living in Montecito, California, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have embraced an entirely new community and way of life.
Harry, in particular, is said to have struck up a close friendship with actor Orlando Bloom in the US.
But Meghan's relationship with Bloom's fiance Katy Perry appears to be more complex.
Wearing a white gown designed by Givenchy, Meghan married Harry in 2018.
The dazzling Windsor service was watched all over the world but Perry, who at the time was on a promotional tour for American Idol, said of Meghan's dress that she "would have done one more fitting".
And although it "wasn't meant to be hurtful", Meghan is said to be "keenly aware" of the comment.
The Daily Star reports: "Orlando is very sympathetic towards Harry and Meghan and does reach out if he ever sees anything suspicious in the neighbourhood.
"However, Meghan is keenly aware of a comment that Katy Perry made in 2018 about her wedding dress and is notorious for holding a grudge.
"While the comment wasn't meant to be hurtful, Meghan felt under siege at that time and was overwhelmed by arguments with staff, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Thomas Markle."
It comes after actor Denée Benton, a star in HBO's historical drama The Gilded Age, said she believes Meghan was "set up" before she found the chance to settle in to the royal fold.
She said: "Being the first and only [person of colour], you’re really set up for an incredible amount of abuse – the system isn’t set up to support you.
"And I think that the lineage of the really profoundly devastating effects of colonisation as it relates to the monarchy, you can’t necessarily just pop a black person in."
Ms Benton opened up about Meghan after sharing her experience as a black woman appearing in period dramas.
Playing the role of Peggy in The Gilded Age, she told HBO bosses her goal was to "get black women as an integral part of the decision-makers on the creative team".
And, referring to her own experience, she sympathised with Meghan's position as the first black member of the Royal Family.
She told Tatler: "It’s [going to take] much more than one person coming in to trigger all of that change. "It doesn’t really work.
"They just get eaten alive or make the choice to protect themselves and [in the latter case], I’m like, power to you, sis!"
